1999 Coupe
C5 Corvette 1999 coupe.
I have owned this car since July, 2014 and have not made any modifications to it since, other than maintenance. … it is always in the garage, properly stored and maintained, battery disconnected, premium Mobil fuel at ½ tank and stabilized. I bought the car from Stacek Chevrolet but later learned that it was “modded” by Blackdog Speed Shop. I visited BD in 2014 and below listed are the enhancements BD performed on the car. I bought the car with 38039 miles on the ODO and now it has 43776. I love the car, but I don’t drive it enough, and would now like to have it find a new adult home.
The only issue is the TPMS for the front right tire throws a code, meaning the TPMS battery is flat. Easy to reset…(over and over, though)…I bought it with this condition, FYI..and a new belt wouldn’t be a bad idea.
It has never been raced or autocrossed by me and always warmed up before any drive. It is in as good condition as when I bought it and I have made no alterations to it, other than better lighting (LED) on the markers, new battery, and a set of new OEM spark plugs (in 2021). All fluids were changed in 2015…brake, P/S, trans, differential, etc..by Ricotta in Rockford…and the oil always is Mobil 1. I see no cracking in the tires or any of the rubber parts. I did install a set of jack plugs, but have never had the need to jack the car up.
Here are some things I learned after the visit to Blackdog
• C5 Z06 factory OEM wheels in flawless condition. Tires are P295 35 ZR18 rear -P275 35 ZR18 front.
• 2011 OEM grand sport brakes all around..6 piston calipers.
• C6 seating and a short shift grand sport shifter
• Pfadt featherweight coilovers, Hotchkiss HD swaybars (F&R) with adjustable end links. Car was setup and aligned for a more aggressive camber and wheel clearance.
• C5 Z06 6 speed manual transmission and ZO6 limited slip OEM differential…trans ratio 3.42.
• Torque tube has one solid coupler
• Bose sound system
• Heads up display, and a new OEM windshield due to an unfortunate rock incident.
• I replaced the battery in 2016, and it is never driven in snow or even rain.
Engine:
• Lower end is stock LS1
• Heads are “243” LS-6 OEM (Z06)
• Lingenfelder cam with valve springs and associated hardware
• HD timing chain and chain dampener
• FAST LSX intake manifold
• Fast Fuel rails
• 102 MM Throttle Body
• Vararam intake
• American racing SS long tube headers
• Corsa exhaust with Specterwerks GTR Corsa Tips — (no Drone)
• ECM tuned for this major upgrade to the engine
• 8 new OEM spark plugs installed in 2021.
Finally… it is navy blue (28U). in 1999 only 18078 coupes were built and only 1439 this color. It is the second rarest color.
