  • Year: 1979
  • Model: Corvette
  • Description: 1979 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe – Black on Black – 350 V8 – Automatic Transmission – T Tops (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1979 Chevrolet Corvette on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it’s possible that you’ve only seen some of our many photographs of the car due to third-party website limitations. To be sure you access all the more than 135 photographs, as well as a short start-up and walk-around video, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.) “1979 Corvette: The one and only” – Chevrolet Corvette magazine advertisement headline, 1979 The headline above was followed with: “What can you say about the Corvette legend? It all began 26 years ago, when the first Corvette was driven off the assembly line. And it remains today as America’s only true production sports car. A car that is awesomely competent. And for 1979, the legend lives on.” “This year, Corvette engineers and designers continue to refine one of the world’s impressively responsive cars, blending styling and engineering to give you touring comfort and driver convenience. New flatter-folding bucket seats, for example, endow Corvette with more practical carrying capacity. New dual-snorkel air-induction air cleaner, new anti-theft steering column ignition lock, and standard Delco AM-FM radio help to make it one of the world’s best-equipped cars.” “It’s not hard to understand why Corvette is such a legendary car. Since 1958 it has offered the fulfillment of a never-ending dream. And for that reason it is truly the one and only. Corvette.” Offered here is a 1979 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe in a classic black-over-black combination. This “American legend” has been nicely maintained in largely original condition. Since new, the car has traveled 72,689 miles, or fewer than 1,750 miles per-year on average since new. The factory-original exterior black (code 19) paint remains in excellent condition over the entire body including the lower-front grilles and the Endura®-clad front and rear bumper covers. There is no damage noted on any fiberglass body panel. (To best assess the quality of the paint and other body finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) All cabin glass-including the beautifully curved rear window-is clear and undamaged. The two removable t-top panels are in similarly well-kept condition. Lighting lenses are damage-free; pop-up headlights operate properly. Limited chrome on the body is in excellent condition with only minor patina on the door handles. All factory badging-including the crossed-flags emblems on the hood, front fenders, and rear-deck gas-filler-cap cover, and italicized “corvette” on the rear fascia-remains properly mounted. Factory-original slotted alloy wheels with crossed-flags center caps are mounted with raised-white-letter Road Hugger® Radial GT tires. Inside, the black color theme continues. Black leather upholstery in a horizontally pleated design covers the bucket seats, with only normal wear present on the driver’s seat. Cabin and cargo-area carpeting in matching black is in overall excellent condition with minimal fading. Matching door trim in black incorporates carpet on the lower panels. The stock, 3-spoke, brushed-metal-trimmed sport steering wheel with crossed-flags emblem frames the twin instruments: a 130-mph speedometer and 5,500-rpm-redline tachometer. Instrument lenses are clear and graphic markings are crisp. The clock and four engine-monitoring gauges are located in the center-dash above an Alpine® premium audio head unit (replacing the factory radio), and slide-lever controls for heating and ventilation. The shifter for the automatic transmission, handbrake lever, and power-window buttons complete the console. The steering wheel and some dashboard and console trim show light patina from normal use. Under the front-hinged hood, the stock appearance of the 350-cubic-inch V8 (including its twin-induction air cleaner) has been generally maintained, with Edelbrock®-embossed chrome valve covers added for flair. All components remain properly mounted, but the engine bay has not been detailed. Viewed from below, the chassis is complete and undamaged. The Corvette’s original build and identification tags remain in place. While the more than 135 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this ’79 ’Vette in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions. This 1979 Corvette Coupe is an excellent representative of the C3 generation. Its next owner will inherit a properly cared-for example in a classic color combination, to be enjoyed on the road, at weekend enthusiast gatherings, and at Friday-night cruise-ins.
